The following Workshop Tickets for Fashion & Embroidery can be booked online. You will need a show ticket to be able to take part in these Workshops.
Workshops last 60 minutes, unless otherwise stated. Tickets cost £8 and any remaining tickets will be available at the show FOC from stand J08, except for the Royal School of Needlework 90 minute workshops which are £10 to pre-book and £7 at the show.
Note: it is important to arrive at the Workshop room, 5-minutes before the start time.

with Wendy Dolan
Learn how to ‘draw’ with your machine. Design and create a small picture with free-machine embroidery and applied fabrics. Be inspired to have a go on your own machine at home. No experience necessary.

Free-machine embroider a butterfly and flower design using applique and stamping techniques. Take a beautiful picture home to frame. Suitable for complete beginners.

Use Needle Felting techniques to create a simple landscape; merino fibres are stabbed into place to create the base picture. Then detail and texture are added using simple free-machine embroidery techniques. Some experience of free-machine embroidery preferred.

Learn how to tackle tricky threads in free-machine embroidery whilst making a beautiful seascape. Working with straight lines, curves and circles develop your skills you will use three different thread types to add sparkle and depth to your piece. Suitable for beginners and those practiced at free-machine embroidery, with tips and tricks to improve your own work.

Working with simple stitch techniques, apply decorative motifs and patterns onto a felted wool background.

This embroidery sampler will introduce you to five basic embroidery stitches within the hour-long workshop. Running stitch, French knots, pistol stitch, seeding and stem stitch combine to create a small Japanese design.

Come and try some simple Raised Embroidery, combining the textural height of rolled needle woven picots with a versatile Fly Stitch to achieve a small motif that can be used on clothing, pictures, book covers and much more.

Strips of colourful fabrics are layered onto a patterned background, and held in place with simple hand embroidery stitches, to create a stunning result.
NOTE: These workshops use hot irons and heat tools, so are suitable for adults only.
